Kinja'd!!!

One that’s turning my world upside down and causing debates between myself and my dad; especially since I come from a Porsche/Ford family. But unless Ford does something interesting and new to the Mustang in the next year, I REALLY want a new Camaro over a Mustang for the first time in my life. Hyper Blue V6 with a manual please.

Yes, I know that’s an SS but that color is wow.

See, you doing exactly what my dad did. He compared the top Mustang to what might not even be the top Camaro and cited magazines and videos. And I said V6 because I’m slightly above peasant status I’ve realized lol. And this V6 is better than the V6 in the Mustang. :p

The only thing I disliked about the new Camaro when it came out was the steering wheel, but I’ve grown to like it.

Same, and the lack of cabin storage. But I reckon it’s one of those “deal with it” things you just get use to. Quite frankly, everything seems better compared to the previous one so that’s a plus.

ah well I would never be caught dead in a v6 pony car so I just assumed due to my prejudice. IMO mustangs sound better, look wayyyyyy better, drive much better( from my experiences with various years), and the coyote motor is damn good.

Well when you’re slightly above peasant status and probably won’t ever be able to own a V8 you want until gas goes back up to $4+ gallon as I’m sure it will in the future, you gotta set your sights a bit lower and ignore the bias and unjustified stigmas.

Except for some dark things I’ve discovered about recent Mustangs, I’ve no qualms with any of them........Except for the Ecoboost sounding the way it does....

The one thing I really love is that color. And I can’t stop thinking about how great that would look on an S550.

Ford will be updating the Mustang for the 2018 MY. It’ll bring down stuff from the GT350. And if a survey is anything to go by (Which in the past, it usually reveals some things) we’ll see magneride, dual mode exhaust and a track pack. I’m just hoping Ford doesn’t bump up the GT’s price to compete with the SS, I like more affordable V8's. I’m thinking a track pack GT would be designed to go against it. I’d also like to think the Ecoboost would get the RS’s upgraded engine, but we’ll see.

So maybe that’ll be interesting enough for you?

Kinja'd!!!1

Where’d you find out all this info? How will they be updating it? I didn’t see anything on Mustang6g. And you know they’ll bring up that price with all those new features a and whatnot as always. “Affordable” V8s died after 2012-13 if you ask me. The only reason the Challenger’s price hasn’t gone up much is because it’s still a near 10 year old car when you think about it, but it’s still a good car.

I wish they had that blue available on the late 5th gen Camaro’s. After sitting in a 6th gen and getting all set up like i would if i owned one, I was not impressed. The materials are way better than the 5th gen but I really felt cramped into it compared to my 2014. I actually would rather have my current 5th gen. I’m ok with the V6 cars but I really against the 4 banger version, the last time the camaro tried that it was a complete disaster. I can see the need for a “tuner” car to appeal to the younger generation but i feel that is what the sonic is for, not the Camaro.

Kinja'd!!!1

Any particular reason(s) why you’d prefer your 5th gen to the 6th gen?

And I feel like the only reason the 4 banger appeals to the “tuner” crowd and younger generation is because V8s are $10k more. I don’t think it’ll be a disaster, but I’m at the point where I think the majority of the people who buy the V8 cars are the ones who grew up with them because they can afford them now at any price than when they were younger. I can see myself having to wait 5-10 years for GTs and SSs to be affordable and gas prices be so astronomical that they’re no longer worth considering.

If you like the more European tinny sound then the GT350 is the car, but I cant stand it, it doesn’t have the deep growl like a American V8 should have. Maybe some exhaust work can get the tone deeper on the GT350.

If you pay attention to the right places and people you can find out a lot of things. The survey was posted awhile back on 6G but I’m having no luck finding it now. It might’ve gotten taken down, but it had all sorts of interesting information.

The new update will (most likely) be a facelift of course with an updated powertrains, 10 speed auto among some other features. You might even see the V6 get retired. That said the current auto is actually really good, smooth and relatively quick. I was impressed when I drove it, even though I haven’t driven many modern autos.

When I mean “affordable” I mean I hope it stays closer to 30K than 40K. For nearly the price difference of the GT and SS you can bolt on a supercharger on the 5.0 and reliably make 727HP now. Updates generally bring higher prices but it won’t be substantial unless Ford really does something radical, which I doubt since it’s selling incredibly well right now. The price point of the base GT is under 2K above the 2011-14. Not bad considering how much better the S550 is.

Also there’ll be a new special edition soon (Depending on what you define as soon) but that’s kind of been a given. Also a new GT500 won’t be a V6. I can tell you that’s 100% the truth.

They way to buy a V8 new is to actually wait a year. I got my 2014 Camaro SS last year and they had knocked $10k off due to it being a leftover car. To me the V8 is worth the money. Both in enjoyment and later resale value.

In terms of 5th vs 6th gen, I like the dash in my 2014 way more than the 6th gen. Reviewers liked to complain with the console gauges in the 5th gen, but being used to driving my 68 Camaro with the same setup its not really a big deal. Even though the 6th gen is smaller, it still felt huge to me, while being even more cramped in the driver seat. I felt the C pillar was a bigger blind spot than the 5th gen. I also really dont like the tail end of the car. The front isn’t too bad but I cant stand the rear of the car.

The performance exhaust is a waste of money, just go aftermarket (picture of a cutaway of the 6th gen unit)

Kinja'd!!!

Massive muffler that with the flap closed has lots of back pressure.

I’m quite glad I went with a 5th gen. I’ve been really happy with my 2014.

Kinja'd!!!1

Well there’s no arguing resale value that’s for sure. I’m curious as to what you like more about the 5th gen dash compared to the 6th gen?

I’ll admit I enjoyed the lower console gauges in the 5th gen even though I could never see over the gauge cluster in any comfortable position in those cars. The 6th gen felt smaller and more compact to me, inside and out, and I can agree with the cramped feeling, but only when someone else was sitting in the car with me at times. I just kinda like the overall package really.

But it is good to know the performance exhaust isn’t worth it for future reference.

Its not going to have a deep tone ever. Its how the engine runs and firing order with the flat plane crank.

http://www.onallcylinders.com/2015/01/15/cro…

Also its the highest displacement flat plane engine as of right now. And its not from Ferrari who is known for flat plane crank. if thats not impressive i dont know what is.

Also mustangs sound great

You don’t have marry any car or manufacturer. Life’s too short for that. Buy what you like, try them all. My dad was a Ford man. Special ordered them stripped. If it didn’t make the car go, he didn’t want it. I decided to follow my own path.

I think this is one of the best looking Camaros in years. The first two body styles were mainly meh to me, but this one actually had me thinking. I agree on the color too, obviously. I think I would put it right with the Mustang, though. I like the styling of both, so it would be hard for me to choose between the two. Still, that says a lot for how the Camaro has grown on me.

I thought this way too, until I realized that the ‘01 Mustang GT I used to drive only had 260HP. The V6 the Camaro uses gets 335HP and probably around twice the MPG.

That exactly color combo is my build. Still might get one, but idk if I’m going V6 or Turbo. V6 is about $3000 more expensive the way I’d build it, and the turbo should be damn good considering it weighs like 3300 pounds.

As someone who purchased a 6-speed V6 2015 Mustang last year, don’t listen to the must have V8 crowd. Not everyone of us can dump $35k on a car. That blue is a great color and the V6 has more than enough power for daily driving and some fun. Enjoy your car!
